Art is life! Rob Conlon, Michael Hall, and Tim Lawton

I used a process from an abstract painting workshop led by Melanie Delgado at the Woodstock School of Art. I built on large, spontaneous strokes and became more controlled to create an abstraction of the Hudson Valley, honoring my roots and personal journey.

My family is connected to Marlborough’s agricultural history. Three sets of my great-grandparents were immigrants who settled in Milton and Marlboro, where they were farmers, and my maternal grandparents owned Polizzi Tree Farm.

I moved to New York City to attend Pratt Institute in Brooklyn and lived there for many years. I commuted by train along the Hudson, and am always in awe of the beauty of the valley.

I have dedicated this work in memory of Dr. Sadie (Stellefson) Penzato, who taught art at Marlboro High School and was an important influence in my life and the lives of countless other students.
